New York Man Causes Three Car Crash

Suffolk County Police today arrested a Huntington Station man after he caused a three car crash, leaving a Huntington man seriously injured, then later struck a school bus and fled. Jonathon Flower, 30, of 5 Luyster Street, Huntington Station, was driving a white 2004 Dodge pickup southbound on Pidgeon Hill Road in Huntington Station at 2:50 p.m. Witnesses say Flower was driving at a high rate of speed when he hit a red Saturn sedan that struck a blue 2005 Toyota Suburban from behind as the driver was making a left turn on Longwood Drive. Flower then hit a mailbox and a light pole. He continued southbound and made a right turn on

Wolf Hill Road where he struck a school bus with seven children on board who did not suffer injury. The driver of the Saturn, Sean Cronin, 48, of 30 Paumanok Drive, Huntington, is being treated for serious injuries at Huntington Hospital. The driver of the Suburban, Schertman Nikolis, 52, of 78 Longwood Drive, South Huntington, did not suffer injuries.

Flower fled the scene and drove home, where he was located at 4:00 p.m. Flower was charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident, a felony, Aggravated Unlicensed 1st Degree, Driving While Intoxicated Drugs and Leaving the Scene of an Accident, a violation.

Flower is scheduled to appear at First District Court in Central Islip for arraignment on May 16.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
